Prayer Requests

Week of September 24

Harold Vande Kieft was admitted to the Sioux Center Hospital on Monday, September 18 where he received treatment for pneumonia. We thank God that he was able to return to Royal Meadows on Wednesday even as we pray for patience and peace waiting for his now delayed next PET scan.

We give thanks with Gene and Judy Vonk for encouraging reports from the variety of tests Gene recently underwent at the Mayo Clinic.

We also give thanks with John and Cheryl Hoogland for good results from a recent PET scan have allowed doctors to continue with his planned course of treatment, including beginning the process to harvest stem cells this Friday, September 22. We pray for God’s continued healing presence to surround John and Cheryl in these very delicate days ahead.

Marlys Moget underwent surgery on her wrist on Friday, September 22 and we join her now in asking for ongoing patience and healing.

Duane Mulder has been diagnosed with an early stage of cancer in the prostate and will be meeting with doctors on Tuesday, September 26 to discover the type of cancer as well as next treatment steps. We pray for peace and clarity as well as God’s healing hand.

We express our condolences to Glen and Elizabeth Gesink at the death of Elizabeth’s sister Edith Swazing on Wednesday, September 20 in California. Edith would have turned 84 this November. We pray for God’s comfort to surround Glen and Liz as they grieve this loss from a distance even as they rest in the hope of the Gospel.

Allen Van Beek left on Thursday, September 21 to serve again with the Red Cross for three weeks. He will be based in Fort Meyers, FL serving victims of Hurricane Irma.

We continue to pray for the many affected by natural disasters, including Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, the recent deadly earthquakes in Mexico, and the wildfires in the western U.S.

We pray for the Ministries of Rev. Vasya and Maranda Heytsi in the Ukraine and Kelly and April Crull in Asturias, Spain. Updates are available at the Welcome Center.

This week, area churches will be praying for us at Bethel CRC. Let us thank God for His work in us and through us as a congregation as well as for the unity we share with the larger Body of Christ.
