Prayer Requests

Week of November 19

After a variety of consults with neurosurgeons, Keegan Haglund had successful surgery on Wednesday morning, November 15 to place a vague nerve stimulator. We pray that this outpatient surgery will give Keegan better control over his seizures and that God will continue to lead this family in the days ahead.

After fainting at work on Monday, November 13, Stan Haak was admitted to the Sioux Center Hospital for testing. Doctors have determined that he is experiencing internal bleeding but were unable to find the cause and so transferred him to Avera McKennan on Wednesday afternoon, November 15. We pray that the cause and a pathway to healing may be found soon.

John Hoogland was released from Avera McKennan Hospital on Wednesday, November 15 and is now staying near the hospital in Sioux Falls for follow-up appointments. He and Cheryl hope to be able to return home before Thanksgiving!

Harold Vande Kieft was able to return to Royal Meadows where he has been admitted into Hospice Care. We continue to pray for Harold, Kathy, and their family as God shepherds them through this season of physical weakness even as we thank God that Harold is free of pain and still able to enjoy visitors.

Duane Mulder will be undergoing prostate surgery on Monday, November 20 at Mercy Medical in Sioux City. We pray that doctors are able to successfully remove all cancer from his body as well as for healing free from complications for Duane in the days ahead.

Bob Van Ruler will be undergoing surgery on Monday morning, November 27 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Doctors plan to remove a part of Bob’s colon, where the small intestine attaches to the large intestine, in order to eliminate some precancerous polyps. We pray for God’s guidance on this procedure and healing during the 1-3 day hospital stay to follow the surgery.

With the covering this past Tuesday of what we expect to have been our last pile of the season, we give thanks to God for each of the many volunteers who helped cover the nearly 40 piles this year, those who made food, those, those who prayed for safety, those who operated equipment, and the Christian Ed Committee for its hard work as together we have served our neighbors and raised funds for Christian education.

In this season of Thanksgiving, we also are reminded to praise God for each of the blessings in our lives, for the gift of His sustaining presences in each of the difficulties of our lives, and for the eternal blessing of salvation in Christ Jesus that gives us daily hope through it all.

We join the Classis Iakota Church Plant Committee in thanking God for the encouraging signs of support to plant a new CRC in the fastest growing region of South Dakota, northwest Sioux Falls. They have made significant progress in six areas of ministry. In early December, Resonate Global Mission will tour the area and provide additional guidance. They thank you for your prayers.

Happy Birthday to Margaret Sybesma who will celebrate her 89th birthday on Tuesday, November 21.

Happy Birthday to Clara Hoogland who will celebrate her 90th birthday on Thursday, November 23!

As we continue to join our community in praying for different local congregations, please pray this week for the Faith Christian Reformed congregation and the ministries of Pastors Bob Pollema, Chad Van Ginkel, and Dave Smit.
