OUR PURPOSE AND GOALS

Bethel is a congregation committed to living by God's Word, the Bible.  Our purpose is to study, digest, know and live the inspired and inerrant Word of God and to pass on the historic Christian faith to our covenant children.

Bethel is a church committed to rejoice and glory in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We believe Christ is the underlying and overarching message of God's Word.  "Gospel" means "good news" and refers to the proclamation in Scripture of the finished work of Jesus Christ for our salvation. By His virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death, and victorious resurrection, He has fully taken our place and accomplished the work to save us from our sins.  God's call is to rest by faith in Christ's finished work.

Bethel is committed to proclaiming this good news to others, starting with our community and nation, but also globally as we support over ten missionaries worldwide.

HISTORY

"Thus Far By Grace"

Bethel Christian Reformed Church was organized in 1922 to become a second Christian Reformed congregation in Sioux Center.  The name "Bethel" was officially adopted in 1955.  Our gracious God has provided a constant succession of faithful pastors over the years, and the result is that we have been confessing Christ and proclaiming the Gospel for over eighty years.

Our current building was dedicated in the late 1960's and our organ in the mid 1980's.  We have endeavored to use these gifts to carry out a vibrant ministry to the glory of God.  From the days of horse and buggy to the present day of global travel, we have lived in the grace and mercy of God in Christ, sharing one another's burdens and rejoicing to see our covenant children profess the faith once for all entrusted to the church.
